Our Journey
A STORY 50 years
IN the making!
Welcome to the heart-warming tale of Mahirs Experience, a culinary journey that began in the vibrant streets of Birmingham’s Soho Road in the 1970s. Two visionary brothers, Ajmer and Mahir Sahota, embarked on a delicious adventure that would eventually shape the destiny of an iconic Indian food manufacturing and catering business.
In the beginning, Quality Sweet Centre was a humble Indian delicatessen, nestled in the heart of Birmingham. The brothers, Ajmer and Mahir, were not just business partners; they were highly skilled chefs with a passion for creating authentic Indian sweets and savouries.
The aroma of freshly made treats wafted through the air, captivating the locals and quickly establishing the shop as a beloved eatery in the community.
the
turning
point
The turning point came when the demand for their delectable offerings reached a crescendo, with requests pouring in for catering services at joyous events like weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions. Recognising the opportunity, the brothers, true culinary maestros, expanded their horizons and ventured into catering for small, intimate functions.
The word spread like wildfire about the exceptional quality of their food, leading to a cascade of orders for events of all sizes, from cosy gatherings to grand corporate affairs.
As the business flourished, the brothers decided to rebrand, and thus, Mahirs Experience was born. Today, it stands proudly as one of the region’s leading Indian food manufacturing companies and event caterers, a testament to the dedication and culinary expertise that runs in the Sahota family.
Family
The ‘family’ remains an integral part of Mahirs Experience, with key positions held by family members such as Managing Director, Executive Head Chef, and Operations Manager. The commitment to producing quality authentic Punjabi cuisine has been a constant since the 1970s. The food is still lovingly handmade, with a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary cooking methods.
Mahirs Experience is not just a business; it’s a legacy passed down through generations. The kitchens are a hub of artisan family cooks, preserving years of family know-how, recipes, and cooking methods. Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with the same passion and authenticity that made Quality Sweet Centre a local gem.
The commitment to excellence extends beyond the kitchen to sourcing ingredients. Mahirs is fortunate to collaborate with local suppliers, ranging from the fertile valleys of Evesham and Stafford to global sources for exotic produce. Relationships with esteemed companies like East End Foods, KTC Edibles, 2 Sisters Food Group, Minor, Weir & Willis, and the Birmingham Wholesale Market ensure a continuous supply of top-quality ingredients.
